Answers…

  1. “My username and/or password aren’t working”:

IF YOU ARE STUDENT WHO NEEDS TO LOGON TO A COURSE: Go to the homepage at: www.insurance-schools.com and click the red "Logon to my Courses" button on the right side of the page. Then, click the "Forgot Password" link to have a new one e-mailed to you.

IF YOU ARE A MANAGER WHO NEEDS TO LOGON TO PURCHASE A COURSE:
Go to the "Sign Into Account" link at the top right of our homepage at: www.insurance-schools.com and when you get to the Account Sign In page, click the "Forgot Password" link to have another password e-mailed to you.

  2. "Where do I logon to my course?"

If you just placed an order, your logon information, along with other important information was sent to your email box. GO TO THE EMAIL BOX AND READ IT. Subsequently, you can always go to our homepage and click on the red "Logon To My Courses" tab located on the right side of the homepage.

  3. “When I click on a Virtual Classroom module, I just get a gray box. What am I doing wrong OR Why won’t the Virtual Classroom work on my iPad?”

Our Virtual Classroom will work with the Google Chrome or Firefox browsers. If you are using a different browser, please switch.

  4. I just got ‘kicked out’ of the online test simulator program. Will this count against my 35 logon sessions?

NO! If you get kicked out of the online test simulator, simply log back into your exam. By doing this, you will resume your practice quiz with the next question and it will not count against your logon sessions.
  5. I’ve placed an order and I would like to track my package. How do I do this?

Depending upon the course you have ordered, Insurance Schools will ship your study materials either by UPS or Fed Ex. When your order is placed and received by Insurance Schools for processing, you will receive a tracking number in your email from our printing firm, Mimeo. Please check your email box for our tracking information. Make sure you check your spam folder if you cannot find the tracking information.

  6. Why do you place an exam session limit or 6 months on the online test simulator program?

Our research has shown that the average student only uses between 12 and 15 exam simulator sessions to prepare for their state insurance exam. Insurance Schools decided to double the logon sessions to accommodate unforeseen study issues some students may have. The reason why we have a 6 month limit is to keep the student ‘motivated’ to complete their studies. All insurance licensing courses can easily be completed in a few weeks time. Allowing a student to drag out their studies only hinders the student from completing the course work. Setting time limits to our program is the same as setting goals. If you know you have to complete your studies by a certain period, you’re more likely to complete the course successful.
  7. If I start an exam simulator session and want to take a break before completing the entire exam, can I?

Yes! Once you begin an exam session and if you wish to take a break, you can log out of the program and come back when you’re ready to complete the exam session. The online test simulator program is designed to pick up with the next question within your session.

  8. I forgot my password. How can I have it reset?

Simple go to the Logon To My Courses page and click on the ‘forgot password’’ link. A new password will be sent to your email box. Make sure you check your spam folder if you do not receive it immediately.

  9. When does the 6-month time period begin on my course?

The 6-month time period begins on the date you order and pay for your course…not on the date you login to your course.
  10. If I start and stop my online practice exam simulator program, will it count against my 35 exam sessions?

No, as long as you log back into your program it will not count against your logon sessions.
  11. “I clicked to have my password reset and the new password isn’t working OR I didn’t receive a new password in my e-mail.”:

    • Send an e-mail to support@insurance-schools.com OR go to our homepage and click on our LIVE CHAT to have your password manually reset. After you have sent the e-mail to our support staff DO NOT click the “reset password link” again. Continuing to click the “reset password link” will overwrite the new password our support staff are creating for you.
  12. “I need a receipt for my course. Can you send me one?”:

    • You can access your order history and receipts at any time by clicking the “Your Account" link in the blue bar on our homepage. Once you are on your account page, simply click Order History and you will see your order receipt.

  13. Where do I go to schedule my state licensing exam?

If you purchased a course that included a printed textbook that was shipped to you, all of your licensing information is included behind the final tab in the textbook titled, 'Licensing Information'. If you purchased a Virtual Classroom BASIC package and you do not have a printed textbook that was shipped to you, go to our homepage at: www.insurance-schools.com and click Agent/Producer courses OR Claims Adjuster courses (whichever applies to you) and then scroll to the state/course that you are taking and you will see the link to the state exam provider for your state/exam.

  14. I am being logged out of my Virtual Classroom frequently. I am afraid I'm not going to be finished with the course before I run out of logons. What can I do?

Most students use between 25 to 35 logons for the Virtual Classroom course, even when frequently logged out. This is why the logon counter is set to 60. However, if you reach 45 logons and you still have quite a bit of the course to get through, send an e-mail to: support@insurance-schools.com and someone will reset them to allow you to finish the course, as long as you are still within your six month time limit.
  15. I ordered a Virtual Classroom package and my textbook has never arrived at my home/office.

Most likely, you ordered a BASIC Virtual Classroom. This package delivers the textbook materials in .pdf format from within the Virtual Classroom, there is nothing shipped to you. Look back at your receipt and if you ordered a BASIC package, go into your Virtual Classroom to access the textbook. If you would prefer to have a printed and bound textbook shipped to you, send an e-mail to support@insurance-schools.com. Include your full name and the e-mail address you used to place your order. We will send you a link enabling you to upgrade to the Deluxe package and a printed and bound textbook will be shipped to you.
  16. How can I be sure I have the latest and most current study materials?

There are two ways to determine this. First, if you purchased our textbooks, open the front cover and look in the bottom left side of the preface page. You will notice an edition date with the month and year printed on this page. Second, you can go back to the webpage where we list our course materials for your state. On this page you will see a statement that reads, “Updated to reflect the (month / year) state exam changes’. Insurance Schools always lists the most current state exam dates in our course description which tracks with the latest state exam changes.
  17. I ordered a course and now I would like to return it. How can I do this?

Click to go to the: Returns area to be sure that you meet the criteria for a return. If so, follow the instructions there.
  18. "My course expired, how can I get an extension?"

Each course subscription is active for 6 months, no exceptions. The courses take anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks to complete. We give everyone 26 weeks to complete the course to account for busy work schedules, illnesses, family emergencies, etc. Therefore, the extension is "built-in". If you would like to complete a course that has already expired, you can repurchase the entire course or pieces of the course from our website. Repurchasing will reset the expiration date but you can still pick up where you left off in the course. Why do we impose a six month expiration date? Insurance is a rapidly changing business. Laws are constantly changing, the state insurance departments frequently change state exam vendors which can completely change the topics that are covered on the state licensing exam. We have full time employees whose job it is to make online updates in real time so students can be assured that the material they are studying is current. The price of the subscription covers the use of the course and all the updates for a 6 month period of time. After that period of time has expired, the subscription must be repurchased in order to have access to the course and all the updates for an additional 6 months.
  19. I bought a Virtual Classroom BASIC package and I can't find where to download my .pdf textbook.

The sections of the book are accessed from the actual screens within the Virtual Classroom. Most students open the Virtual Classroom in one window of their browser. Then, they click the "download text" button and that section of the textbook will open in a new window. Then, the student can have both windows open at the same time and can follow along in the textbook while going through the Virtual Classroom. This prevents the student from having to print a large book as they move through the course. The textbook is not delivered in one downloadable file that allows the entire book to be printed at one time.
  20. "I have e-mailed/faxed the disinterested third party affidavit form to your offices and I have mailed the original. When can I expect to receive my course completion certificate?"

This depends on the state and if the course is for an adjuster or agent. For most states that require a course completion certificate, it will be mailed the next business day after the fax/email of the affidavit is received.  The state of Texas requires that we must have the original affidavit before the certificate of course completion is mailed.  The state of Georgia permits us to email the certificate to the student. However, for most states the certificate of course completion must be mailed to the student as he or she must have an original in order to take the state licensing exam. Please note: Most – but not all - adjuster licensing exams do not require a course completion certificate. We frequently get calls about course completion certificates for adjuster courses that do not require one. The student should always consult the information handbook for his or her state to determine if the exam to be taken requires a course completion certificate.

  21. While I am taking an exam in the Online Exam Simulator, I keep getting an error saying that I have tried to refresh the page. This logs me out and I lose my score.

The browser you are using to access the Online Exam Simulator is cacheing the page. This means the browser is set to load a "stored" page instead of loading a new page each time. You will need to go into the browser's Internet Options and set it to load a new page each time. This is easier to do in Internet Explorer than other browsers, so you may want to try Internet Explorer to see if the error corrects itself.
  22. "Why do you only give students three attempts on the course final exams to receive a course completion certificate?"

Previously, students used to just take the final exam over and over again until they memorized it and passed. Memorizing questions on a final exam is not actually learning the course material, but because students passed the memorized exam, they would receive a course completion certificate from us, but they would not pass the state licensing exam. Therefore, we only allow three attempts until the students are scoring high enough on practice exams to indicate that they can pass our final exam AND the state licensing exam, because that is actually the goal. Getting through our exam will get you the certificate, but not the license. It is important that students understand the material because our certificate isn't worth anything if they can't pass the state exam. Additionally, the state insurance departments keep track of the passing rates of all insurance education providers and they use this information in making decisions regarding course approvals in the future. It is very important to us, for more than one reason, that our students pass the state licensing exam and requiring that students pass the practice exams BEFORE receiving a certificate will help make sure that OUR students pass the state licensing exam.
