Corona Virus Updates

This Page Last Updated:  May 12, 2020

The testing vendors (PSI, Prometric & Pearson Vue) are opening A SMALL NUMBER OF TEST DAYS/TIMES for scheduling EACH DAY. These new test dates/times are posted at different times during the day so check their website several times each day to find a test date/time that works for you. If you live in a large city, you may also have to schedule at a location outside of your area of convenience, so please check surrounding cities & towns near you that might be open.

Due to Pearson Vue, Prometric and PSI re-opening their state exam facilities at midnight on May 31, 2020, Insurance Schools will no longer receive requests for course extensions.

Any requests submitted or received AFTER May 31, 2020 will not be processed. If your course expires sooner than a testing date is shown on the exam vendor's website, please contact them and request a sooner testing date. The testing vendors have implemented social distancing and other precautions to keep students safe while taking their state exam.  Insurance Schools have no control over the exam dates the testing vendors are offering.

To receive an extension before the May 31st deadline all other requirements of our COVID-19 course extension policy must be met. SEE BELOW!

There is no need to extend these courses as access is granted online from any safe location 24/7. ALL OTHER COURSES WITH EXPIRATION DATES BETWEEN MARCH 17, 2020 AND JUNE 1, 2020:

The current situation with the testing vendors is as follows:

  • PEARSON VUE: Most testing sites are open as of May 1st. Please check their website www.pearsonvue.com for availability.

  • PROMETRIC has announced a "general" closing through May 31st but HAVE OPENED MANY SITES AROUND THE COUNTRY. For site openings CLICK HERE!

  • PSI still has their re-open date as May 1st, but they have a list of specific site closures and re-open dates on their website. To view their updates CLICK HERE!

HOW DO I GET A COURSE EXTENSION?

For students whose courses expired on March 17th through May 31, 2020, please schedule your state licensing exam for after May 1st, but as close to your course expiration date as possible. Then, send your exam reservation email with the reschedule date to cindy@insurance-schools.com. Your course will be extended to that date to provide you with the ability to study up until your state exam date. Courses expiring June 1st or after will not be extended in most cases. However, there are some "hot spots" where testing vendors are staying closed longer than most. We will review these courses for possible extensions on a case-by-case basis. If this pertains to you, please contact cindy@insurance-schools.com to provide information as to your location and testing vendor circumstances.

THREE POINTS TO REMEMBER WHEN SCHEDULING YOUR STATE EXAM:

    1. Schedule your state exam date as close to your course expiration date as you can. For example, if your course expires on May 15th, schedule your state exam as close to May 15th as possible. We have had several students whose courses expire in April schedule their state exam for August or September as a way to add several months to their six month window to complete the course. This will not be permitted.

    2. If your course expired between March 17th and mid-May we will provide an extension for the date you schedule your state exam if you have been actively studying and you contact us BEFORE YOUR COURSE EXPIRES. If you haven't been studying for weeks or months and/or your course expired before you have contacted us for an extension, you will need to repurchase the course to begin studying again.

    3. ALL THREE COURSE VENDORS HAVE RE-OPENED MOST TESTING SITES BY MAY 1ST. However, there are some specific testing sites that remain closed in certain COVID-19 "hot-spots" around the country. We will review requests for extension in corona virus "hot-spot" areas on a case by case basis.

ALL OTHER COURSES WITH EXPIRATION DATES ON JUNE 1, 2020 AND AFTER:

  • If your course expires on June 1st, 2020 or after, you should still be able to take your state exam by your course expiration date. However, if YOUR testing vendor did not open again by May 1st, we will reassess these courses.  Please send your exam reservation email with the reschedule date to: cindy@insurance-schools.com
  • Any new courses purchased now will not expire until next fall when we hope this virus will be a distant memory! Because most of us have been displaced from our offices during this crisis, it is a good time to focus on completing licensing courses to become a more highly qualified insurance professional when our robust American economy reopens! Since the testing vendors closed on March 17th, we have had hundreds of students complete their courses during quarantine, keep up the good work!
